Four students of Covenant University Ota, Ogun, have emerged
winners of the 2013 Nigeria Software Competition held in Tinapa, Cross River,
the Head, Corporate Affairs of the institution, Mr Emmanuel Igban announced in
a statement.
The statement stated that the four students from the Computer and
Information Science Department participated in two categories and won cash
prize of N1.75 million and two trophies.
It said that the competition had in attendance 24 teams of
students from 21 schools across the country, with the Covenant students coming
tops in the Nigeria Best Open Source Software of the Year category, sponsored
by the Institute of Software Practitioners in Nigeria (ISPON).They also won a
trophy by creating a software solution on Anti-Cultism Social Education media.
Igban said that Okwuokenye Ebuka, Emmanuel Inwalome, Raymond
Ativie and Oroge Alanuloluwa, who are all 400 level students, represented the
institution and participated in the two-day event, which held between Oct. 22
and Oct. 23.
The statement stated that the students swept all the prizes meant
for the Nigerian Software Excellence Award 2013 category
It said that the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Charles
Ayo, commended the students for their performance, saying it was a feat to
reckon with.
